Frank More
Born and raised on a farm in eastern North Carolina, Frank Moore graduated from high school and went on to attend college in Pensacola, Florida. It was while attending college he met his wife Dottie. Soon after graduating from college Frank married and the happy couple moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. Frank found employment as a school principal and Dottie took employment as a secretary.
On January 7, 2001 Dottie gave birth to their son, Frank Hargrove Moore, III. Frank's mother, Beverly Moore, came to Texas from North Carolina a few weeks later to meet her new grandson. Beverly planned to spend the week visiting and helping care for her new grandson.
The family decided to have a special dinner together before Beverly was to return home. Frank and his mother went shopping for groceries to prepare this special meal they would all share together the last night of Beverly's visit. A drunk driver hit Frank and his mother as they returned home when they pulled into the driveway. The drunk driver passed on the left side and hit the car. This careless accident took 53 year old Beverly's life and left Frank Moore paralyzed from the chest down and in a wheelchair.
Since this tragic event in Frank Moore's life he has a powerful presentation on drunk driving. He has a presentation complimented with photographs of the accident, the wreckage and of Frank's hospital experience. Every teenager should experience this presentation.
Frank as well as his wife Dottie participate in presenting valuable information and experiences with their audience. Their presentation stresses how drunk drivers can affect innocent victims. Frank shares that although he has never been a "drinker", alcohol has forever changed himself, his family and others.
The entire presentation lasts about 45 minutes, but not only stresses the danger of drunk driving but includes a positive message of not being bitter when mishap comes into our lives. These are both two important lessons teenagers today can benefit from learning.
